storytelling. He has traveled all over the United States, from
California to Maryland, from Illinois to Florida, telling stories and

Biography
|
 |
Bill Jones did not grow up
around storytelling. "In fact, my mother always told me not to tell a
story." She meant, "don't tell a lie," but after 31 years as a
Presbyterian minister, Bill discovered that storytelling can be a
powerful way of telling the Truth. His stories of growing up in the
small town of Talladega, Alabama, of going off to boarding school in
the 9th grade, of long canoeing adventures in the Canadian wilderness,
and life in the church and in a family explore universal themes with
humor, insight and a sharp sense of the universal details of life. He retired
in 2001 to take up a second |
career as a
professional
storyteller. Bill has been married since 1967 to Lida, and they have
three
sons, Geoff, Christopher and David, and one precious granddaughter,
Shannon.

We'll
remember this weekend forever. Our retreat was blessed to have you as
our featured speaker. I enjoyed getting to know you through your

"On behalf of 1st
Pres., thank you so very much for your willing, loving leadership
during Family Enrichment week. We have heard nothing but positive
remarks about your stories (which made us all stretch, ponder, grow,
laugh and cry)."
-Deb Bibler, First
Presbyterian Church,
Americus GA.
"Bill
dealt powerfully with adolescent concerns such as bullying,
decision making, discovery of self and relationships with others.
Besides his excellent performance work, Bill showed himself to be an
outstanding educator as well. He went into individual Language Arts
classes to talk about crafting stories, the power of storytelling for
young people and his approach to developing ideas...Bill Jones was an
excellent choice for a school residency for our middle school."
-Larry
Neumann, Pleasantdale Middle School, Burr Ridge, Il.
" I am writing to say again how much everyone enjoyed having you with
us. We are basking in the glow of stories we heard and how they touched
our own memories."
